Koraput Cultural Society,
popularly known as KCS inherited the cultural wealth of the tribal and resolved
to promote, protect and enlarge the cultural diversity of Koraput district. The
society was registered in the year 1989 and inspired likeminded and talented
artiste, writers, theatre exponents, folk artisite dancer, singer and musicians
who came together to create a platform for experiment and propel and
amalgamation of contemporary and modern art forms in Odisha and India.
Over the last three decades, KCS
has achieved many successful milestones and reached the general people through
its theatre, folk dance, street plays and contributed immensely in the district
and state level cultural festivals, awareness generation and participating in
the state and national level theatre festivals and events. KCS is also
affiliated with the Sangeet Natak Academy of Odisha.
Eminent and reputed national and
state level personalities from the field of art, theatre, folklore, music, and
politics and from administration have applauded its creativity and performance.
Distinguished personalities like Dr
A.P.J Abdul Kalam, the honorable former President of India, late Shri Biju
Pataik and Dr Giridhar Gomango, the
former Chief Ministers of Odisha have witnessed a glimps of its programme and
appreciated its effort.
Today KCS has been developed
itself into a full blown centre of creativity and provides guidance and
training to budding and young people to carry the rich cultural heritage to the
next generations.
Over the years, KCS has staged many theatre and cultural events in and outside of Odisha. Following are some of fantastic plays which were staged since last few years.

Along side theatre, the KCS has also involved in street theatre as a tool for social transformation and creating awareness among the people on various emerging social issues related to blind believe, illiteracy, social evils and empowerment of people at a large.

The Society played a pivotal role in contributing to the annual district cultural event PARAB and other festivals. The young artiste have also inculcated various folk dance and performing art forms.
Demsa, Rinjori, Cher Chera,
Gadaba, Sambalpuri, Odissi,
Himanchali, Bihu, Dandia, Gidda, Bhangara,
Andhra folk dance.
